PET.- Raw materials have slightly eased the price of PET in July.

The competitiveness of PET imports has also contributed to the domestic offer moderating its prices.

Variation June/July

PX                          – 95 €/Mt

MEG                     – 85 €/Mt

Imports deserve special attention, which in the first 4 months of this year, compared to the same period of the previous year, have increased by 211%.

Some countries have been very active, including:

• Egypt,- From practically nothing being imported in 2021 to importing more than 6,000 tons
• China, practically the same as Egypt, from practically nothing in 2021 to importing more than 5,300 tons.

Also highlight the increases in imports of:

Viet Nam             + 575 %

Netherlands      + 357 %

Lithuania             + 218 %

India                     + 139 %

Given the significant increases in the price of domestic PET, some customers have chosen to increase their spot purchases from third countries, with delivery forecasts after the summer, which predicts difficulties for national and European suppliers.

The trend marks, for the coming months, a clear decrease in prices.
